Tax increases must
be kept to rate of inflation

I will continue to vote for budgets that keep tax increases to the rate of inflation and that allocate an additional levy (1.5%) for infrastructure renewal.

Local government taxation has increased faster than inflation over the last decades, and District residents are facing an additional financial strain from the increasing utility levels caused by cost overruns at the North Shore Wastewater Treatment Plant.

My vote will be to curtail government spending to permit us to maintain operational tax increases to combat inflation.

At the same time, I will advocate for a disciplined financial plan that addresses our need for infrastructure renewal.

To balance our budgets, I will advocate for tax reforms that will make our system of taxation fairer and less burdensome on households in the District.
