Councillor Jim Hanson,

District of North Vancouver

Councillor Jim Hanson was first elected to North Vancouver District Council in 2014 and re-elected in 2018 and 2022.

Jim is a lawyer and holds law degrees from the University of British Columbia and Oxford University in England. Jim has practiced litigation law in BC since 1985.

Prior to being elected to Council, Jim has held a variety of leadership positions in his community and legal profession, including with the Blueridge Community Association, Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia, and Canadian Bar Association (BC Branch).

Jim serves as:

  • Chair, North Shore Standing Committee on Substance Use

  • Member, Metro Vancouver Indigenous Relations Committee

  • Member, North Vancouver Policing Committee

  • Member, North Vancouver Heritage Advisory Committee
