Sue Big Oil

Holding major oil companies accountable for climate-related costs.

Seeking financial relief for taxpayers facing environmental impacts.

Climate change is putting a strain on taxpayers in the District. Dramatic rain events, formerly one-in-a-hundred-year rainfalls, are now common, causing floods and slides, while hotter and dryer summers create formerly unprecedented wildfire risks.

This change in climate has resulted from the combustion of petroleum products, sold by large oil companies for profit. The large oil companies get the reward, and District taxpayers get the cost.

I will advocate to have the District participate in Suing Big Oil for disgorgement of some of their profits for use by the District to cover climate-change related costs.
